Reception 2026 Transition Information

We are delighted to be welcoming you to Folly Hill Infant Academy in September.

Below is a reminder of the key dates:

Stay and Play Session 1: (Weds 1st July 9.30am-10.30am) 

Your child is invited to spend time in the classroom. Please bring his/her birth certificate with you to the visit. You are asked to stay with your child in the classroom so that you can support them with settling in.

Stay and Play Session 2: (Weds 8th July 9.30am-10.30am) 

Children are invited in to spend time in the classroom without parents getting to know their class teacher and early years practitioners. There will be tea and coffee available for parents in Starlight room if you wish to stay on site. This also offers an opportunity to get to know other parents and carers.

Starting School:

Tuesday 1st September and Wednesday 2nd September 2026 are Inset Days (school is closed to all children)
Thursday 3rd, Friday 4th and Monday 7th September 2026: Home visits will take place and Reception is closed to all children.
Tuesday 8th September: Children in school from 8.35am-11.30am
Wednesday 9th September: Children in school from 8.35am-1.10pm (children will stay for lunch)
Thursday 10th September: Children in school from 8.35am-3.15pm
From Friday 11th September the children will be in school full time. Our school gates open at 8.35am and close at 8.45am. End of day is at 3.15pm.

Home visits:
Home visits have proved successful and we are continuing with this initiative. Home visits will take place in September and you will be able to book a session during the parent induction meeting or at the stay and play sessions.
