Friends of Folly Hill (PTA)
Our Mission
We are run by a team of parents who want to get more involved with school life, raise some money so that our children get the best resources, and promote the school and its achievements in the local area.
We work closely with the school, parents and pupils to put on a range of events and activities including school discos, cake sales, craft activities as well as supporting some school events such as school plays, assemblies and Grandparents Day. Where possible we work with the local community and open the school for events such as our quiz night, Christmas & Summer Fairs as well as taking part in the local Carnival, all of which contributes to building and maintaining a great school community.
We mainly raise money to enable us to purchase equipment and resources that would not be possible in the normal school budget. Monies raised also subsidises experiences and supports workshops for the likes of Science and Sports weeks. As well as supporting the school’s annual budget by committing funds for core curriculum activities including cooking ingredients, books and learning software.
We meet every half term to discuss up and coming events as well as previous ones and any other relevant topics. Creating a calendar of fun events to help to bring together the school together as a community.
We are a registered Charity (Registered Charity Number 1210519) and also a member of Parentkind.
How involved do I have to get?
That depends on how much you are prepared to give. Involvement can range from donating a prize for a tombola, attending an event, helping to man a stall at the summer fair, right up to joining the committee. If you do come to a meeting you won’t be roped into doing loads of stuff that you don’t want to do! All help is very much appreciated, no matter how big or small. We are constantly on the lookout for new ideas and fresh takes on traditional ways. For the working parents amongst you or ones with little ones, or people who don't feel they can be involved just yet, there is always something that you can do - there are so many ways that you can give back to the school and really make the most of your time here, with your child. Enjoy it, it goes so so very fast!

Recently, we have purchased interactive smartboards to be used in the classrooms. We also fund a travelling Theatre company to come in at Christmas to put on a performance for the children and we run a Christmas Party - these are to name but a few things that we fund, as well as ongoing IT software and music licensing, cooking and baking, and those things that go on unnoticed behind the scenes.
